Sorry, it’s been awhile that’s what happens when you try to tackle two books and a bunch of other stuff. Anyway, I want to share with you something I read and dig in a little deeper with you.
So most of us know that before we are saved there is a longing a void in our lives that can only be completed by Jesus. Remember back when you first received Him the completeness you felt. If you don’t know what I am talking about message me, email me, and we can talk about HIM.
So after awhile in our walk with Him sometimes we can lose steam. the coward in the dark hits us out of nowhere and we are wounded. Sometimes we try to go our own way and we end up in away from that place we were when we first found Him. There are a lot of Sometimes… so go ahead and fill it in with your sometimes.
If you think I’m crazy check out these verses…
“‘I know your works, your toil and your patient endurance, and how you cannot bear with those who are evil, but have tested those who call themselves apostles and are not, and found them to be false. I know you are enduring patiently and bearing up for my name’s sake, and you have not grown weary.
But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first.
Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.
Sometimes we fall away from our first love… First and foremost we need to repent.
Aside from backsliding which is when we obviously turn away from HIM. Sometimes it’s not so obvious. I think the coward would like us to think that it’s only the obvious backsliding.
But I read something that I just cannot shake and it changes my perspective on so many things. But before we go there I want to start here…
As Christians, have you ever felt unsatisfied? Have you ever felt like you needed more? Most would say quickly no of course not Jesus is enough!
So let me ask it a different way…
What do you do when you are tired? What do you do when you are weary or depressed? What do you do to be happy? What do you do to find joy? What do you do when you need something? What do you do when you feel hopeless?
If we were truly honest with ourselves our answers would be varied and most of them would not be …seek the Lord. Sure we have our moments when we seek Him and can answer that… but every time… probably not.
I am going to keep this simple. I could take this a lot of ways there is more scriptures out there and you can study them. If you believe in God then you Believe in His Word…
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.
God is not man, that he should lie,
or a son of man, that he should change his mind.
Has he said, and will he not do it?
Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God.
All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
So you may be saying “yeah, yeah, what’s the point?”
The point is this… If we believe in this…
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
Then why don’t we live like we believe in these…
The fear of the Lord leads to life, and whoever has it rests satisfied; he will not be visited by harm
And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.
As for me, I shall behold your face in righteousness;
when I awake, I shall be satisfied with your likeness.
Why is it we try to use the resources in this world before we seek Him first? He will satisfy us. He will give us everything we need and more.
The coward is crafty.. he has this world set up so we can try…try satisfy our needs or wants.
When we need money we borrow… instead… seek HIM ask HIM
When we are lonely we seek advice from the world… seek HIM First…
When we are bored we watch TV…Seek HIM He’s got lots on the agenda there is plenty to do…
Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”
When we are tired and weary we lose hope… instead… Seek HIM
When we want to be happy we think about ourselves… instead… find our joy in HIM it won’t run out!
Friends maybe none of the examples I have given apply to you but there are things in your life that you are not turning to HIM first. There are things you are settling for, that you may be desentized to…. that is not where He would want you to be, see, ect.
the coward doesn’t want you to wake up and realize the “subtle sins” ( the coward’s term not God’s) you are doing.
You can stop. You can do it! It’s not as hard as you think if you give it to HIM if you Seek HIM.
I will leave you with this and let the Spirit speak to you, ask HIM to show you, reveal to you areas in your life where you are not turning to HIM first, areas where you are turning to something else and then turn around and be satisfied in the Only One who can satisfy you.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!
According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
Concerning this salvation, the prophets who prophesied about the grace that was to be yours searched and inquired carefully, inquiring what person or time the Spirit of Christ in them was indicating when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glories.
It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in the things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look.
Called to Be Holy
Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”
And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one’s deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile, knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.
He was foreknown before the foundation of the world but was made manifest in the last times for the sake of you who through him are believers in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.
Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart, since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God;
“All flesh is like grass
and all its glory like the flower of grass.
The grass withers,
and the flower falls,
but the word of the Lord remains forever.”
And this word is the good news that was preached to you.
As Always Friends,
