I don’t know about you but I could listen to preaching all day everyday. Anyway I have been listening to some great messages but a couple of them has stood out. Today I would like to share one of them with you and then have a brief conversation. ( Ok, so it’s not so brief lol ;))
I think this message is powerful in so many ways. She starts off by saying, “You are not who you think you are?” Well I don’t know about you but at first I was like what?! I know who I am, I know. Most of us spend a considerable amount of time defining our identity in what we believe and what we do. We know who we are right! …right?
I think that it is great how she shows historically how the presence of God was carried throughout the Old testament to the New Testament. It really hit home with me that sometimes, ok maybe more often than we would like to admit , we forget who we are!
I will admit when she first said this…
my mind wandered to a worldly picture of having an alien living inside me. Weird I know. But after letting it set in and really thinking about being a Presence Carrier of the One True Living God. It puts things in perspective.
I enjoyed her testimony … It is was not new to me as I have heard about this story before but it is encouraging, sad… amazing.
I love that she points out the situation where her and her husband were talking about ‘should we really be painting when we are going to be tearing down these walls?’. I thinks she was very wise to recognize that in doing the small things they would develop the faith for the larger things later. Below is some scripture I think aligns with this concept.
We ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers, as is right, because your faith is growing abundantly, and the love of every one of you for one another is increasing. 2 Thessalonians 1:3 (ESV)
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love. Galatians 5:6 (ESV)
We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly mentioning you in our prayers, remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. For we know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you 1 Thessalonians 1:2-4(ESV)
To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by his power, so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 (ESV)
What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. James 2:14-17 (ESV)
I love and I think God does too, when we realize He is BIGGER than we can think or imagine. When we realize that his plans are so much better than what we would have chosen for ourselves. I am so thankful that God still works plans for us for good even when we are ungrateful for the process.
When she talks about the no bake cookies and how they consume her, it reminded me of things that consume me. That example helped me to compare those things that consume me in comparison to how I let the Presence of the Lord consume me. Sometimes I fail and other things consume me more. Then I also remember the times that I have let the presence of Jesus consume me.
I remember that feeling that I never want to let it go. I want to be continually and always consumed by the Spirit. I want to stay in love with Jesus!
I choose Jesus above all else!!!
Then she give the visual of a Spiritual Thermostat. How is your Spiritual Thermostat?
Did you ask God for your word? If you didn’t please watch the video. It may very well change the temperature of your Spiritual Thermostat!I know it did mine and I am so thankful I came across this message!!!
What was your word that God told you?
Remember this is God’s word for you. If you are like me you will slip and try to do this on your own. Stop. He is going to work this in to your life. Just be willing to do what he asks you to do. Submit to His will, it is good, he has got it covered.
My word is LOVE. Funny thing is I already knew this word and tried to ask God for another word because I was already working on that…. that was the problem… I was working on it. I didn’t let him work it through me.
I love the penny concept and that she points out a few of the scriptures below!!!
3 Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given to you, just as I promised to Moses.
5 No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you or forsake you.
6 Be strong and courageous, for you shall cause this people to inherit the land that I swore to their fathers to give them. 7 Only be strong and very courageous, being careful to do according to all the law that Moses my servant commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go.
8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
I LOVE these verses! I love that it remind us to be strong and courageous multiple times. We need that reminder, I need that reminder. It is OK to trust God! We do not have to do it on our own he has got it covered!!!!
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.
Trust in the Lord friend. When we do it on our own we stress, we make a mess, we work ourselves to death.
I think I could go on and on but alas I will not.
Friends, thank you for your time. Remember He’s got this! And as Always be Blessed!
