Common Ground

A while ago my pastor preached a message that I cannot resist but to share and dig in a bit deeper as well… He shared this scripture…

1 Corinthians 9:19-23 (NLT)

Even though I am a free man with no master, I have become a slave to all people to bring many to Christ
When I was with the Jews, I lived like a Jew to bring the Jews to Christ. When I was with those who follow the Jewish law, I too lived under that law. Even though I am not subject to the law, I did this so I could bring to Christ those who are under the law.
When I am with the Gentiles who do not follow the Jewish law, I too live apart from that law so I can bring them to Christ. But I do not ignore the law of God; I obey the law of Christ. When I am with those who are weak, I share their weakness, for I want to bring the weak to Christ.
Yes, I try to find common ground with everyone, doing everything I can to save some. I do everything to spread the Good News and share in its blessings.
I love this.. I am pretty sure this is one of my favorite scriptures. At first glance it may seem a bit hypocritical…. one minute he’s a jew, the next minute he’s not, one minute he’s strong, the next he is weak.. But no he is just finding common ground with everyone he meets.
Now I don’t think that is pretending he’s something that he is not  in order to have common ground. No he is searching with in himself and getting to know someone else and finding common ground. But the best part I have highlighted in blue.
He is doing this so that he may bring them to Christ. Common ground is where we lay the road to show people where Jesus is… it is how the may come to know Jesus.
Friends..let find some common ground with those who may not know Jesus.. with our coworkers, family, friends of friends, people we meet for the first time, our neighbors, ect. As always be blessed my friends.
