Unplugged

Hello friends! It’s been a while I apologize for my absence. I feel I must explain and share my experience with why I have been unplugged. Ok so to those who know me well, know I long for simpler days (or so I thought).

So I proposed this great idea to my husband, I told him the answer to all our problems, the key to a closer walk to God for ourselves and for our children is to unplug and step back from modernization. Which we did for all the summer and a bit before and after; we disconnect the internet, cable, Netflix, and game systems throughout our house.

Albeit, we did do more things together as a family at first and the effects it had on my children and their games systems was for the better. However, for me personally, I struggled. I didn’t struggle to turn them back on but I use the internet quite a bit to connect with people and I use the internet when I worship God, to read the Bible, and to listen or watch sermons.

I didn’t realize the positive effects technology played into my walk with God. Now, I am not saying my internet use was solely for God. By unplugging it helped me realize that there are a lot of things on the internet that are time suckers and unplugging helped me break those addictions to games and useless sites. Additionally, I think it helped my husband with some of those things as well, but you’d have to ask him.

However, I think the thing that I have learned the most from unplugging, I am just now realizing… The simpler life I am longing for is not going to be found here on earth. Now this is strictly my opinion but I think most of us Christians have that longing..and I think it is heaven we are longing for. I think heaven is where we will get to live the simpler more fulfilling life.

Also, I learned that I love technology. I don’t think technology is bad or sinful, I think it is an amazing tool to connect with friends and family, meeting and hearing Christians from miles away. I think as Christians it is a powerful tool to reach a world searching for wholeness that we know we can only get from God. Amen.

I think the verse that best summarizes my experience is..

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

Romans 8:28 ESV

The internet is not bad, technology is not bad, it is what you do with it that makes it good or bad. 🙂

Well I am glad to be connected again and as always Be Blessed my friends!
