So to continue with my post I had a dream… the testimony I shared ( and probably plus some… since I can write it better than saying it 😉 )
So when I was a child my best friend invited me to church. My mom had taken me to church when I was real young but I didn’t remember it and I had no real idea about what they were talking about. So I went to church with my friend and loved it.
The people were so loving, my Sunday school teacher took me and my sister under her wing like we were her own girls. She even took us to church on Sunday nights and Wednesday nights when we couldn’t catch the bus. She shared CD’s of various christian artists, and took us out occasionally for dinner after church so we could fellowship with other church members.
The members of the church young and old we very kind to us always ready to give us a hug or a high five, with smiles on there faces and some with a piece of candy in their handshakes. The stories I heard in children’s church were told with such passion by the pastor’s wife it wasn’t hard to visualize them, I can still hear her telling some of them as well as some of her personal testimonies.
The songs I learned I still know today. I can still hear the church bus honking the horn as it was coming down our drive to pick us up and as it was leaving when dropping us off. I remember the teenagers that helped work the bus route, thinking they were so cool.
Looking back now,
they planted many seed in my life that I am not sure they realized they were planting. As a teenager I left church for various reason and tried to do my things, my way. Throughout the years some of those members would still stop by and visit, invite us to church and offered to pray for us. That meant a lot, they still cared even though, I wasn’t in church.
Once I turned eighteen my husband, who was my boyfriend at the time and I went back to church and pursued a our walk/relationship with God. I never forgot the seeds that were sowed in to my life. Also the love they showed to us kids has stayed with us to this day. And I can undoubtedly say that the seeds they have sowed into my life have bloomed and helped me with many things in my adult life.
Friends, I am not sure if your church has a bus/van ministry where you pick up children and some adults who don’t have a way to church but let me tell you. They need you. I thank God for my friend for inviting me to church, for the bus and the people who served the Lord with their time to make it possible for me to be able to get to church. That’s where I met Jesus!
Others need that opportunity too. Time is something that doesn’t easily these days… but it is an investment in the kingdom of God. As I went back to the church I grew up in I was glad to see the bus ministry still running. I’m sure it can be discouraging when us bus kids choose the wrong path and decide to quit going. It’s hard when we are not made to go to church as rebellious teenagers.
But the seed that are planted stay with us. The love and kindness stays with us. The words spoken, the scriptures, the songs of Gods love and grace we remember even when we may not want to.
So, friends if you don’t have something like this at church talk someone about starting something like this or at least..bring some children to church..
Then little children were brought to Him that He might put His hands on them and pray, but the disciples rebuked them. But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 19:13-14
Be Blessed friends
