Washed Clean

So I have had the song I’ve been Set free stuck in my head all night tonight. ( I think that is what it is called it goes..my chains are gone, I’ve been set free, my God, my savior …ransom for me, Unending love, amazing grace)

Anyway, as I was taking my bath tonight I had noticed how yuck the water looked as I was stepping out. I thought huh I didn’t even realize I was that dirty. (Sorry too much info I know but go with me for a min) Then I thought about this concept I learned in college call Desensitizing.

Basically, this is just to lessen your awareness, like my dirty bath water. When I was in college the concept came up about T.V. ratings in Sociology. (Which is interesting information, look it up if you have some extra time)

But I thought, you know some thing that is just how sin is sometimes it sneaks up on you.

You may not even realize you got some dirt on you. The little things that are totally okay till we make them something way bigger. For example, watching tv, personal time, and many other things, those were just what I could think of at the time.

Innocent at first, just enjoying life, before you know it consume your life. Personally, if I ever notice it, I fast it, not necessarily immediately. I have done it with T.V. and Pop/Soda 🙂 and other things as well. It’s funny because at first I did it to prove to myself I didn’t have a problem but shortly after I stopped I realized how consumed I had been.

At first it’s like you feel neglected because you don’t get to do what you want, eat what you want, (your excuse here). Then after while it is freeing, extra time, or extra money, more energy, (______).  If you stick with it eventually you hardly notice whatever you chose to give up is gone.

Although, sometimes you do notice its gone. Not to the point you have to… but more of a want to I will use caution. In some cases it works with much restraint I did that with pop/soda, you could even say that about T.V. but not really, ( Disclaimer: I totally am ok with T.V. watchers. There is nothing wrong with watching some T.V. Its your call 🙂 )

Some time you can add back to your life if it is possible. However, personally I think there are somethings you just cannot add back in moderation. For instance, drugs, and _____ (you all know what they are).

Sorry, totally went on a rabbit trail for a minute but I’ll leave it because maybe it was for someone. Anyway, we may not realize how sinful we have become. But as I was sitting in the tub, I realized, you don’t really notice the dirt on your body and you don’t realize it coming off your body from the water.

Of course dirt reminds me of the devil and water is Jesus, the Living Water.

All we have to do is come to the Living Water and He will wash our sins away. We may not even notice till we walk away from the dirt.

Here’s some scripture the goes along with what I am talking about.

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. 1 John 1:7
I answered, “Sir, you know.” And he said, “These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Revelation 7:14
he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit Titus 3:5
Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Psalm 51:7
And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.Acts 22:16
Be Blessed my friends and come to the One who can can wash your dirt away.
