Put it into Practice

Put it into Practice. I have had this saying in my head for quite sometime. God’s word is full of good stuff that we may or may not be aware of and are we putting it into practice? I know each of us put some things into practice but what about the other stuff? Do we just deem it a good in theory and move on?

Don’t worry if you think I am just talking to you, you are not alone. There are many occasions in the Bible that talk about people who do not put God’s directions into practice.

My people come to you, as they usually do, and sit before you to hear your words, but they do not put them into practice. Their mouths speak of love, but their hearts are greedy for unjust gain. Ezekiel 33:31

Indeed, to them you are nothing more than one who sings love songs with a beautiful voice and plays an instrument well, for they hear your words but do not put them into practice. Ezekiel 33:32

But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. Matthew 7:26

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.  Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.James 1:22-24

Whoever says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person. But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did. John 2:4-6

Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. James 2:17

By not putting God’s directions/commands/whatever you wanna call them into practice we cannot know who God really is, we become foolish, we don’t understand ourselves, we’re a liar, and all our faith is dead.

As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like.  They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.” Luke 6:47-49

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock Matthew 7:24

He replied, “My mother and brothers are those who hear God’s word and put it into practice.” Luke 8:21

He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.” Luke 11:28

However, if we choose to put God’s directions/commands/whatever you wanna call them into practice we are wise, we have a strong foundation, Jesus calls us his family, and we are blessed. That sounds like a good enough argument to put it into practice to me. How about you?
