We all know people who have died. No matter how young or old, whether it was natural or unnatural circumstances, it hurts. We miss them. I have been missing some of those who I have lost over the year, a lot more lately. But I have finally gotten some comfort about it.
This year I had a very agitating experience at a funeral…You see the pastor spoke a message, that in my opinion, sounded like he believed in reincarnation. I don’t know if you have ever been to a funeral and heard a message like that but it is horrible,it messes with you mentally and emotionally.
To believe in reincarnation would be the same as thinking that your loved, one cannot remember you. Also that we get to come back to this world just a little better and different aspects. Ugh.
I tell you ( and it may sound a little off the wall here…) I believe Satan used that message to torment me. Just by trying to processing that concept through my mind, as if it were/could be possible ( the not remembering part). DON’T believe it!!!!
I am not claiming that I know anything about heaven and the process, except what is written in the Bible and sometimes that is hard to comprehend.
Do not let anyone…anyone..anyone try to tell you, some educated stuff about life after death, that has no solid foundation. (they will never have a solid foundation about heaven, unless, they have been there and back. More likely, they probably wont be back here to tell us.) <- sorry if that was a little harsh but I needed to hear that months ago.
Anyway, this is some scripture that is great comfort to me…
Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4: 13-18
I love the word sleep in that verse. It the reason for the comfort I think. Just think about the most peaceful sleep you have ever had. You were not sad, you probably didn’t realize you were even sleeping, you may have had dreams, and time was incomprehensible. I don’t know about you but the thought of my loved ones sleeping, sure sounds a lot better than them not even remembering me or living a new life on a similar planet.
I just keep thinking that one day when Jesus comes, I will be able to give those loved ones a big hug and enjoy their presence, with our savior and others. I know it may be sad to think of them sleeping, if we think they are watching us, and I don’t know maybe they are…but I hope not, they don’t need to see my mess or how crazy the world is getting, or wishing they could be here to give us those hugs we really need at times. I think that being a sleep in our Savior sound much more peaceful till we meet again.
Now, I am totally not saying I know what that verse is talking about fully, I just know that is what I got out of it.
But I totally want to warn you. In an age where science is becoming increasingly advanced and educated hypothesis are the “solid foundation”. Do not believe everything you are told about. Especially, things that concern God, heaven, the Bible, History. The Bible says…
Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers and sisters, not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by the teaching allegedly from us—whether by a prophecy or by word of mouth or by letter—asserting that the day of the Lord has already come. Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. 2 Thessalonians 2:1-3
