Give Thanks!

Ok so today I woke up sad… really who wakes up sad. This got me thinking… I learned in a pervious psychology class the thoughts you think about right before you go to bed is what you dream about sometimes.

Now your dream may have that information, all tangled up and such or you may not remember your dream but this is true.( If you don’t believe me tonight think about something for the last hour before you go to bed take a pin and paper with you to bed then when you wake up write down your dream.)

Well last night I was saddened because so far this year I know of five people who have passed away some I knew personally and others I knew their families, they vary in age for two days old to in their eighties; in which they passed away in two different months. (this was actually written in March)

This has been a bit overwhelming for me not because they are in heaven but because I miss them or I know their families miss them.  However, today as I was reading my Bible some scriptures came to me… I find is amusing the repetition check it out….

And they sang together by course in praising and giving thanks unto the LORD; because he is good, for his mercy endureth for ever toward Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised the LORD, because the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid. Ezra 3:11

Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.  Psalm 106:1

O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.  Psalm 107:1

O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever. Psalm 118:1

O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Psalm 118:29

O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Psalm 136:1

O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Psalm 136:2

O give thanks to the Lord of lords: for his mercy endureth for ever. Psalm 136:3

O give thanks unto the God of heaven: for his mercy endureth for ever. Psalm 136:26

Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; Ephesians 5:20

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 1 Thessalonians 5:18

And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God, Saying, We give thee thanks, O LORD God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned. Revelation 11:16-17

In which this lead me to look up the definition of mercy….

1 : compassion or forbearance shown especially to an offender or to one subject to one’s power; also : lenient or compassionate treatment

2a : a blessing that is an act of divine favor or compassion

2b : a fortunate circumstance <it was=”” a=””>mercy they found her before she froze></it>

3: compassionate treatment of those in distress

This gives me soooooo much comfort.I may not know why things happen but I do know my God is kind, loving, merciful, and so so much more. So regardless of life’s circumstances, regardless how I woke up this morning… I will thank God for who He is, for what He has done, for the people He brings into my life, the circumstances I encounter, for God is worthy of all praise. So here are a few of the things I am thankful for today…

  • I am thankful that God sent Jesus to die for me a worthless sinner.
  • I am thankful that God shows us mercy that endures forever.
  • I am thankful that God loves me enough to discipline me when I am wrong.
  • I am thankful that God has made today so beautiful.
  • I am thankful that God has given me children that love the Lord.
  • I am thankful that God has blessed me to know the people I have known.
  • I am thankful that God speaks to my heart with just the right words.
  • I am thankful that God has give me a huge church family that exceeds beyond the church walls.
  • I am thankful that God is my strength when I am weak, my defender when I am helpless, my encouragement when I need it.
  • I am thankful that God has given me the opportunity to be used as a vessel for his purpose, his will.
  • I am thankful for God because he is always good.
